Drexel TV and Print Ads Winners of ‘Admissions Advertising Awards’
March 4, 2008
A Drexel University television advertisement has won a “Best of Show” award and gold in the “TV Ad–Single” category in Admissions Marketing Report’s 23rd annual “Admissions Advertising Awards,” said Philip Terranova, vice president for University Relations.
The 30-second television ad features quick cuts of campus and Philadelphia shots and music by The Swimmers, who are on Drexel’s student-run label, MAD Dragon Records. It was created by the Chicago-based marketing and advertising firm Lipman Hearne Inc. and features the University’s new “Live It”™ theme. The ad premiered nationally on MSNBC during a Democratic presidential candidates debate held on Drexel’s campus Oct. 30, 2007.
Lipman Hearne also produced a full-page advertisement published in The Philadelphia Inquirer the day of the debate. With spotlights focused on two podiums, the ad includes the copy: “We don’t just watch the presidential debate. WE LIVE IT.” It won silver in the “Newspaper Ad–Single” category.
Drexel also won three other awards, based on work produced by The Creative Group in the University’s Office of Enrollment Management. Drexel University Online, a wholly owned subsidiary of Drexel, won eight awards, including gold in “Logo–Letterhead” and “Total Ad Campaign.”
“Admissions Advertising Awards” is the oldest, largest and most prestigious advertising awards competition, with more than 3,500 entries submitted last year from all U.S. states and multiple foreign countries.
