Greek Week 2012 at Drexel
April 20, 2012
Greek Week 2012 takes place now through Saturday, May 12, 2012. Greek Week is two weeks of athletic, artistic, philanthropic and educational events created by the Drexel fraternity and sorority community to promote healthy competition, pride in their Greek membership, and unity between the chapters and members at Drexel. All events are open for attendance by all members of the Drexel community unless otherwise noted.
This is just a sampling of some of the great events taking place during Greek Week. Visit www.drexel.edu/studentlife/fsl for a complete schedule and updates.
Friday, May 4
12:30 pm / Judging begins at 1pm
Race Street/Spangler Walk (Rain Location: TBD)
Each chapter collects non-perishable food items to create a design, object, building, etc in an artistic way. The CANstructions will be judged not only on their appearance but how the structure reflects their organization, Greek life in general or Drexel as a whole and the concept behind the design. After each structure has been judged, all the food will be donated to support Phil-a-bundance. Feel free to bring your own non-perishable food items to help support the needy in Philadelphia.
Monday, May 7
Great Court, Main Building
Feel the intense energy of Greek Week at this exciting athletic competition. Competitors from each chapter and council compete in two weight classes to prove their strength and dominance. Be prepared for a high level of support and noise to fill the Great Court as members and friends support their competitors.

One of the cornerstone events of Greek Week, the talent show competition allows each fraternity and sorority to display their members’ unique talents and abilities to impress the esteemed judges’ panel composed of Drexel faculty and staff. The event includes talents ranging from dance and acrobats to musical performance and more! With this year’s move to the DAC, the program is sure to be bigger and better than ever.
Friday, May 11
Greek Tile Display & Judging
Recreation Center Lobby, 1st Floor

Race Street/Spangler Walk (Rain Date: Saturday, May 12 at 1pm)
In the great tradition of the ancient Greeks, Drexel’s fraternity and sorority community embarks on the challenge of the chariot race. Each chapter builds their own chariot and races them down Race Street to determine who is the fastest and strongest. While the chariots may not look like those from the Grecian Olympiad, they are certain to excite.
Saturday, May 13
Tug - Of – War
Buckley Volleyball Courts (Rain Location: TBD)
The final event of the Greek Week events, the Tug-of-War is the ultimate battle. Organizations field their team in a classic tug-of-war challenge to claim bragging rights and those final coveted points that could help them claim the overall Greek Week victory. Winners from each of the three councils will be announced following the conclusion of the Tug-of-War.
