15th Annual Holiday Toy Drive and Morton McMichael Book Drive

November 14, 2011

Toy Drive
Faculty, professional staff and students are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys beginning Tuesday, November 15 through Wednesday, December 14.

Drexel’s Office of Government and Community Relations has begun its 15th Annual Holiday Toy Drive. Providing a toy or donation this year will be more important than ever, given the harsh economic constraints that many Philadelphia residents are facing.  Requests continue to be received, with over 60 organizations now looking to Drexel for help.  Recipient groups include public housing developments, churches and ministries, homeless shelters, youth centers, social service agencies, health centers, town watches, counseling centers and more.

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys (no toy weapons please) beginning Tuesday, November 15 through Wednesday, December 14, 2011.  Collection boxes are available on the University City and Center City campuses at the following locations:

  • Office of the President, Main Building
  • Office of Government and Community Relations, Main Building, Suite 228
  • Office of the Dean, Westphal College of Media Arts & Design Dean, Nesbitt Hall
  • Office of the Dean of Students, Creese Student Union Complex, Second Floor
  • Facilities Management, General Services Building
  • 3201 Arch Street, First Floor
  • All Drexel University Resident Halls
  • W.W. Hagerty Library
  • Daskalakis Athletic Center
  • Bellet Building Lobby, Center City Hahnemann Campus
  • New College Building Lobby, Center City Hahnemann Campus
  • 3 Parkway Building Lobby, Center City Hahnemann Campus

Members of the University community can also participate in toy wrapping parties (with eco-friendly materials), which are scheduled to be held in the Great Court of the Main Building (32nd and Chestnut Streets), Monday, December 5 through Wednesday, December 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In addition, Drexel, in partnership with Follett Library Resources, Inc., is hosting an online fundraiser to support the library at the Morton McMichael School.  All of the money raised will go directly to purchasing badly needed books for the library. You can go online to www.titlewish.com/100668 and make a secure gift of whatever size you can.
