Drexel and Delaware County Community College Establish Drexel@DCCC

A new innovative agreement between Delaware County Community College and Drexel University will establish Drexel@DCCC, a program that will allow students from the College to earn a degree from Drexel without ever leaving the College’s campus. Drexel President John A. Fry and College President Jerry Parker signed the agreement today during a ceremony at Delaware County Community College’s Main Campus.

“The Drexel@DCCC articulation agreement gives our students the opportunity to conveniently pursue advanced degrees while never having to leave our College,” Parker said. “It builds on the already existing partnerships the College has with Drexel University to the great benefit of our students.”

Drexel@DCCC will begin in the fall of 2014. Through the new program, Drexel will offer courses toward a bachelor’s degree both at the College and online. Drexel also will offer students graduate-level courses online, and during the evenings and weekends. Students taking Drexel courses as a part of this agreement will receive a discounted tuition.

“We’re proud to work with DCCC to offer Delaware and Chester County residents high-quality, high-value Drexel degrees right where they live,” Fry said. “Higher education must provide more options and reach more students, and Drexel is doing that through the Drexel Network and partners like DCCC.”

Preliminarily, the two higher education institutions have agreed to offer Drexel’s Business Degree and Drexel’s Computer Network Security Degree programs. The colleges also have agreed to offer students an innovative joint degree program in which students can simultaneously earn both an Associate in Science Degree in Nursing (RN) and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN). DCCC and Drexel faculty will collaborate to offer a BSN in an accelerated manner. Bachelor’s degrees in Health Services Administration and in Health Sciences will also be offered.

Graduate-level courses will also be offered. In addition, under the agreement, if the College is not currently offering a course, the student can take the course at Drexel and then reverse transfer the course credits back to the College, enabling the student to graduate with an Associate Degree from the College. Under the agreement, more bachelors- and masters-level courses may be offered at a future date.

This is the second such partnership for the University. Drexel@BCC has been offering degree programs at South Jersey’s Burlington County College since 2006.
