World Famous Bread & Puppet Theater Company to Perform Outdoors at Drexel Tomorrow

April 18, 2008

Philadelphia
What: The Bread & Puppet Theater Company, one of the country’s oldest non-profit theatrical companies, will perform “Divine Reality Comedy Circus” outdoors at Drexel University on Saturday.

At the University for a two-day residency, the Bread & Puppet Theater Company held workshops this week for students that taught the art of street theater, including how to create puppets and how to generate public awareness for a cause.

Visuals: The Theater champions a visually rich, street-theater brand of performance art. Its shows are political and spectacular, with puppets made of papier-maché and cardboard. The Theater has been enacting its radical utopian vision in cardboard and cloth for over 40 years.

When: Saturday, April 19, 2008 from 4 to 5 p.m.

Where: The Drexel Quad, 33rd Street between Market and Chestnut Streets
