Buzzing 4 Change: 130 Drexel Students to Cut Their Hair for Children With Cancer

What: More than 130 Drexel students will shave their heads or donate cut hair to benefit child cancer patients as part of Buzzing 4 Change. After launching at George Washington University in 2003, the fundraiser expanded to just three other universities nationwide this year.
Drexel’s Buzzing 4 Change organizers say their goal is to raise $15,000.
All money raised will be donated to the pediatric oncology center of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and hair will be donated to Locks of Love, a nonprofit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss.

• Students shaving their own or fellow students’ heads and trimming hair
• Students receiving Buzzing 4 Change T-shirts after donating hair
• Students donating money by check or online using laptops set up at the event location
• Music by the all-female a capella group Drexel Treblemakers and bands Nobody Yet and Fighting the Influence, both of which include Drexel students
When: Wednesday, April 16, from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Peak time: 4 to 4:30 p.m.
Where: Drexel’s Quad, between Market and Chestnut and 32nd and 33rd streets
