Field Hockey Wins CAA Regular Season Championship

The women’s field hockey team, coached by Denise Zelenak and ranked #10 in the nation, won its first regular season Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) championship when the Dragons defeated the nationally ranked #17 Delaware Blue Hens 4-2 on Sunday, November 1, 2009. Drexel finished the regular season with 17 wins and 2 losses and several players won CAA player and rookie of the week honors. The team also continued its undefeated record in the state of Pennsylvania that goes back several years. 

The number one playoff seed Dragons will host its first CAA championship on Saturday and Sunday, November 7 and 8, 2009 at Buckley Field (43rd Street and Powelton Avenue). Drexel will meet number four seed Hofstra at noon on Saturday, November 7. That match will be followed by a semifinal between number two seed University of Delaware versus number three seed James Madison University.  The championship game will be held on Sunday, November 8 at 1 p.m.
