Save the Date: Drexel University Libraries' Scholarly Communication Symposium
The Drexel University Libraries’ Scholarly Communication Symposium will be held Thursday, April 16, 2009, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Edmund D. Bossone Research Enterprise Center (Market Streets between 31st and 32nd Streets).
This year’s symposium, "For What It’s Worth: The Hidden Costs of Scholarly Communication," focuses on the economics of scholarly communication. Can information and publication really be “free?" What are the hidden costs? Who pays? Who benefits? What are the implications for researchers and for publishers?
Attendees will learn about SCOAP3, the Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics, and exchange ideas with an expert panel on open access, intellectual property management and digital content preservation.
