Aid for Friends

Through this program, volunteers serve the elderly and homebound by bringing them food and chatting with them for about a half-hour every two weeks. The food is taken from our refrigerator at the Newman Center.
Project H.O.M.E.

This program was started by a Catholic nun, Sr. Mary Scullion, with the goal of ending homelessness in Philadelphia by removing the homeless off the streets and giving them the resources to rebuild their lives.

St. Katharine Drexel lies here within the Motherhouse of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, a religious order she founded. Former Drexel chaplain Fr. Bill Grogan occasionally holds Sunday Masses at the chapel here. The shrine is located off Bristol Pike (US 13), near the interchange of I-95 and Woodhaven Rd (PA 63) and the Franklin Mills Mall.

The incorrupt body of St. John Neumann, the bishop of Philadelphia who started the Catholic education system in the United States, lies beneath the altar of the lower church. He is not to be confused with English bishop John Henry Cardinal Newman.
