Drexel University Newman Catholic Community Welcomes You

Why did the Drexel Newman Club change its name to Drexel Newman Catholic Community?
“Drexel Newman Club” just doesn’t cut it. We are the Catholic presence on the campus of Drexel University. We maintained the name “Newman,” in honor of English bishop John Henry Cardinal Newman, who lends his name to all Newman Centers across the country and around the world. We decided to add “Catholic” since it is the fullness of the Catholic faith that defines this organization.

Can you please explain the meaning behind the Newman Center’s symbol?
It looks more like an interfaith symbol that does not truly represent the Catholic presence at Drexel. The symbol is a cross over a triangle embedded in a circle. The circle surrounding the triangle resembles Drexel’s old logo before it adopted the dragon. The cross simply means the Catholic presence at Drexel. We are currently in the process of replacing the logo to emphasize the Catholicity of this organization. If you have any ideas on what the logo should be, please feel free to e-mail us.

I want to donate to Drexel’s Newman Center. What should I do?
You can make checks payable to “Drexel Newman Center.” We are currently trying to set up a Paypal account so you can donate directly on this website.

Special Thanks to senior, Ryan Padilla, for sharing his knowledge of the Newman Center.
