Dr. Y. Sun is originally from Beijing, China. She received her B.Eng. degree in thermal engineering from Tsinghua University in Beijing and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Iowa. Prior to joining Drexel in September 2009, she was an Assistant Professor with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the State University of New York, Binghamton, from 2006 to 2009. Her research interests include multiscale modeling of transport phenomena in energy systems and materials processing, printable electronics and photovoltaics, colloidal suspension dynamics, and other areas of multiphase flow and heat/mass transport. She has authored over 40 technical publications in refereed journals and conference proceedings. Dr. Sun was a recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER Award and the AFOSR Summer Faculty Fellowship. She is a member of the ASME, APS, TMS, and MRS. She also serves on the ASME K-15 and K-20 Committees.
