Call for Nominations – 2016 Graduate Citation Awards

We are soliciting nominations for the Drexel University College of Medicine Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies Graduate Citation Awards. These awards are presented in October 2016 at Discovery Day. Recipients must be able to attend the award presentation.

Award nominations should be submitted to the Office of Alumni Relations. Please include the following information:

  • Which award the person is being nominated for
  • Your letter of support for the nominee
  • His or her current CV

Self-nominations are accepted. A support letter from a colleague or classmate is still required.

More About the Alumni Association Awards

Boots Cooper, MD, Service Award

This award recognizes a graduate of Drexel University College of Medicine or any of the predecessor schools who has over the years provided dedicated service to his/her community or the Alumni Association through leadership involvement and support. It is given in honor and memory of Boots Cooper, MD, WMC '65, who served as a member of the WMC faculty for many years and continued her service in medicine until her passing in 1992.

Emerging Leader Award

This award recognizes an MD graduate of Drexel University College of Medicine who in the early stages of his/her career has demonstrated outstanding leadership and/or service to the Alumni Association, his/her local community or the medical profession. Alumni within 15 years of graduation are eligible.

Outstanding Alumnus/a Award

This award was established to recognize a graduate of Drexel University College of Medicine, Drexel University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies, or any of the predecessor schools for significant accomplishment and excellence in one of the following areas: clinical practice, research, teaching, mentorship, entrepreneurship or professional contributions.

HU Distinguished Alumnus/a Award

This award was established to recognize a Hahnemann University graduate who is highly acclaimed for excellent service and accomplishments in his/her respective professional field, leadership in the medical profession, participation in professional organizations, or scholarly activity that brings recognition to the medical school and the Alumni Association.

WMC/MCP Distinguished Alumnus/a Award

This award was established to recognize a WMC/MCP graduate who is highly acclaimed for excellent service and accomplishments in his/her respective professional field, leadership in the medical profession, participation in professional organizations, or scholarly activity that brings recognition to the medical school and the Alumni Association.

Graduate Citation Early Career or Young Investigator Award

This award recognizes a PhD graduate of Drexel University College of Medicine who is seen as an outstanding investigator in the early stages of his/her career with accomplishment in the field of biomedical research as evidenced by notable publications or presentations, or who has made contributions by bringing important medications, devices or technologies to market. PhD alumni within 15 years post degree are eligible.

Graduate Citation Mid-Career and Senior Graduates Award

This award recognizes a PhD graduate of Drexel University College of Medicine or any of the predecessor schools who is highly acclaimed for his/her significant accomplishments in the field of biomedical research as evidenced by notable publications or presentations, or who has made contributions by bringing important medications, devices or technologies to market. PhD alumni who are at least 15 years post degree are eligible.

Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes a graduate of Drexel University College of Medicine, Drexel University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies or any of the predecessor schools for outstanding achievements in his/her professional life, personal integrity and stature, and lasting contributions to his/her chosen profession. The Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest honor given by the Alumni Association.
