Admissions Exams

Application to a health professional school is approximately a year-long process. Along with the pre-medical science course requirements, the MCAT is a requirement for application to medical schools. Candidates for medical school are advised to apply to the American Medical College Application Service and/or the Association of American Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Application Service following completion of the program. This usually gives a student a year before gaining acceptance into medical school. During this time, a student is encouraged to continue to gain experience in a clinical setting, participate in volunteer work, or take upper division coursework.

Admission Requirements

Admission into the program is quite competitive because of the limited number of seats. Candidates for admission to the Evening Post-baccalaureate Pre-medical program must possess the following credentials:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university or an international equivalent.
A cumulative 3.0 undergraduate GPA.
Standardized examination scores are not required, but students with a score can be evaluated with greater accuracy. We prefer the following: SAT range of >60th percentile; ACT score of 20 or higher; GRE range of 60th percentile. At the discretion of the admissions committee, individual applicants who do not submit scores will still be considered for acceptance.
Completion of college algebra and trigonometry or a higher level math course (e.g., Calculus I) is a prerequisite for the program (grade of B or greater, course taken within the past academic year). For our students to be successful in General Physics, it is imperative that they possess a foundational understanding of math.
If you lack the math requirement, an online math course will be offered in the entering fall semester alongside your required courses. A math competency exam will be administered to all students.
Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident.

Applying to the Evening Post-baccalaureate Pre-medical Program

The application deadline is July 31, 2024.

As part of their application, prospective students must provide:

Official transcripts from all colleges and universities where coursework was attempted or taken
Personal statement/essay:
This personal statement is an opportunity for you to let us know how you believe this program will benefit your career. Use your personal statement as an opportunity to distinguish yourself from other applicants. Consider and write your personal statement carefully. Some questions you may want to consider while writing this essay are:
- How do you believe this program will enhance your academic record?
- Why have you selected the field of medicine or another health profession?
- What motivates you to pursue and learn science and how does it relate to medicine?
- In addition, you may wish to include information such as:
  - Unique hardships, challenges, or obstacles that may have influenced your educational pursuits.
  - Commentary on significant fluctuations in your academic record that are not explained elsewhere in your application.
- Provide us with a timeline for your career goals and what activities you will be pursuing while attending our program.
Three letters of evaluation from college faculty, supervisors, employers, etc., who are familiar with the applicants work ethic and desire to enter the medical field. Letters of evaluation may be submitted through Interfolio.
For those individuals far removed from the college years, additional factors, or other more recent coursework, will be considered

Evening Post-baccalaureate Pre-medical Hybrid Program

The Evening Post-baccalaureate Pre-medical Hybrid program is available for our employed students who desire a transition into the health professions. This program will provide all lectures online while preserving in-person lab experiences. The Evening Post-baccalaureate Pre-medical Hybrid program will require that students meet with faculty for labs and assessments on a weekly schedule.
