Professor Rick Knight has been awarded the 2015 Meritorious Service Award from the Liberty Bell Chapter of ASM International. Presented since 1999, the award recognizes an individual for their dedication and service to the chapter and ASM International.
A teaching professor, associate department head, and undergraduate advisor, Knight has been a member of ASM International since joining Drexel in 1989 and has served on and/or chaired several ASM and ASM affiliate Thermal Spray Society (TSS) committees. He was elected as a Fellow of ASM International in 2003 and in May 2009 was elected as the first Fellow of Alpha Sigma Mu.
Knight serves as faculty liaison for the student chapter of Material Advantage™ and for the annual Materials Camp®. Hosted for the Philadelphia Chapter of ASM at Drexel each June, the camp is now in its 11th year. He has received several Philadelphia Chapter awards including the President’s Award (2005), Albert Sauveur Award (2010), Delaware Valley Materials Person of the Year Award (2007), and William Hunt Eisenman Award (2013).
