Fostering Civic Responsibility
The Lindy Center for Civic Engagement is a welcoming place for all Drexel Dragons to get involved in civic engagement—making a difference in community life through collective, public problem solving. This includes volunteering, community organizing, social activism, and so much more. The work is not easy; sustaining civic activities requires particular knowledge, skills, values, and motivations.
Our work is to help the Drexel community develop knowledge and skills through educational programs (including courses, research, workshops, and other learning opportunities), to engage with communities through service, volunteerism, and relationship-building, and to explore and cultivate justice-oriented values and motivations through personal reflection. We strive to include these three elements—learning, engagement, and reflection—in all of our programs and events.
As a unit within the Office of University & Community Partnerships, we also strive to align our programming with the strategic goals of the University.
Civic Engagement Portal
Direct service is one way to engage with local community members and fulfill needs for those experiencing hardship and oppression. Through relationships with many local nonprofits, the Lindy Center for Civic Engagement is able to connect students to volunteer opportunities as part of our leadership programs and through a database.
