Kimberly Morales
Mantua Haverford Community Center

Kimberly Morales
Hola to those who are reading this! My name is Kimberly Morales and I'm the DCS*Site Leader for the Mantua Haverford Community Center in West Philadelphia. I'm currently a sophomore here at Drexel and I'm majoring in Biology with a minor in Anthropology.

The mission of MHCC is to provide the West Philadelphia and Mantua community with quality educational and human services that will serve to revitalize the community. MHCC offers several specialized programs to youth, adults, and families to stimulate the passion, creativity and personal development while helping to improve the economic base of the neighborhood.

At MHCC I work specifically with the after school program. The children begin arriving between 3:00 and 3:30 every weekday afternoon. Immediately after arriving at the center they have to complete their homework with the help of the staff and volunteers. By 4:30 they are served lunch and after that they are allowed to play before their parents/guardians come to pick them up around 6:00. The children have a lot of energy and absolutely love to engage the volunteers and staff. Enthusiasm is a NECESSITY.

If you are interested in getting more information about volunteering at MHCC you can e-mail me, Kimberly Morales, at
