Faculty Development

Course Development Grants
The Lindy Center for Civic Engagement has funds available for full-time faculty members to apply for a course development grant. These one-time grants are to support the development of courses that include a civic engagement project. Read the full description of course development grants.

Faculty Civic Engagement Seminar
In conjunction with the course development grant, the Lindy Center hosts an on-going seminar as an opportunity for faculty who are either new to, or are interested in, integrating civic engagement into their courses to come together and discuss best practices, lessons learned, and other aspects of community based experiential learning. Part of the agenda will also include faculty members who are given a course development grant presenting their course/project to the group. View our seminar archive.

Upcoming Seminar
Please join us for the next Faculty Civic Engagement Seminar on Tuesday April 5, 2011 from 9:30-10:30 in the Pennoni Honors College Seminar Room (5051 MacAlister Hall). The topic of the seminar will be “Designing a Community-Based Experiential Learning Course”. We will discuss some of the “best fit” practices, obstacles and resources to courses with a community-based component. Light breakfast will be served.
