The
vision of the Earle Mack School of Law at Drexel University
is extraordinarily exciting. We are building a law school that
will produce outstanding,
reflective
practitioners.
We are committed to providing students with excellent teaching
across a broad-based classroom curriculum along with comprehensive
opportunities for experiential learning through legal writing, co-operative
education, and pro
bono programs. At the same time we are committed
through our research activities to advancing the scholarly
mission of a great research university.
Philadelphia
has a legal community that is unmatched in its richness and
quality. The bar has been most supportive of our launch. Our
cooperative education and pro bono programs provide us with
splendid opportunities to deeply engage with practicing lawyers.
Our curricular concentrations in Business
and Entrepreneurship Law, Health
Law, and Intellectual
Property Law match well the strengths of the bar and region's
economy. Our graduates thus will be well positioned to
become the next generation of leaders of the profession in
the region and nationally.
The
work over the past two years to implement our vision has been
astonishing. Our
first class of 180 students is a very talented, hard working
group of individuals. We added an equally talented class
in the fall of 2007. The faculty and
staff that have joined Drexel to launch our venture also are
outstanding. We have a great mix of senior and junior
faculty, professors who are committed to collaborating with
our students to build a special law school. Our law school
faculty, staff, and students have created a real sense of community.
We have developed an administrative
infrastructure and law
building to support our efforts, including a technologically
advanced library. I
