Career Strategies Announcements

Inspiration and Ideas from Dean Gerson:

Summer is an excellent time to visit the Career Strategies Office. The CSO Team is busy planning fall educational programs, preparing for our incoming first-year class, and visiting employers and bar associations to promote the Kline School of Law. In June I will attend the Philadelphia Bar Foundation Quarterly Meeting and Luncheon, visit the Bucks County Bar Association, the Montgomery County Bar Association, as well as the Philadelphia Bar Association Women in the Profession meeting. All of these are opportunities to network, learn about job opportunities, and publicize the law school.

In addition to making external visits, the CSO staff is also available for counseling appointments. Don’t let us feel like the Maytag Repair Man – visit us! We’re here to review resumes, cover letters, and help guide you in your job search.

What I’m Reading Now:

BOLD: Get Noticed, Get Hired (2013). This book, co-authored by three college friends who now live and work in Philadelphia, offers some very creative advice about getting noticed by employers in a positive way. While this book is not written for law students and does not focus on legal hiring issues, it does provide savvy advice about how to market yourself effectively and use LinkedIn to your advantage. You are welcome to borrow a copy from the CSO.
