Law Review Write-On Competition

The Law Review Write-On Competition will begin on May 14, 2014, at 4:00 p.m. Interested 1L and 2L students will receive the competition packet on that date and will have until May 28, 2014, at 4:00 p.m. to submit their completed materials.

If you are interested in writing on to Law Review you must do the following:

• First, add the “Law Review Write-On Competition 2014” page on TWEN. The TWEN page will be available to add after March 24. All materials, including the packet for the write-on competition, will be posted on TWEN as they become available. You will also turn in your submission on TWEN.

• Second, you need to request an anonymous ID number for the competition. You can request a number any time between March 24, 2014 and May 11, 2014, at 5:00 p.m. To request a number, please e-mail Dana Duggan (dmd82@drexel.edu) from your Drexel email account with the following information:

o Name o Rising Class Year (rising 2L or rising 3L)
o E-mail address
o Phone number

If you do not request an anonymous number by May 11 at 5:00 p.m., you cannot participate in the write-on competition. If you have any questions or problems before the competition, please e-mail Executive Editor of Membership, Connor Hackert at cjh76@drexel.edu

Enforcement and Prosecution of Drug Offenses: Chief Francis and Chief Grossman Guest Speaking

​The Criminal Law Society will be hosting a dinner event with Chief Francis of the Dangerous Drug Offender Unit and Chief Grossman, of the Public Nuisance Task Force of the Philadelphia District Attorneys Office. Speakers will discuss the current status of drug enforcement and prosecution in Philadelphia, the new drug policies, and where drug enforcement is heading.

Breaking Down The Walls Through Education: Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program

Spring Semester Philanthropy Event

The SBA, in collaboration with the National Lawyer's Guild and Books Through Bars, will be hosting its Spring Semester Philanthropy event on Monday, March, 31. Student organizations which have not yet fulfilled their philanthropy requirements are encouraged to attend. However, any student may attend. At the event, students will be able to log letters from inmates who have requested books into a database. Anyone who comes can only be there representing one organization, and must be sure to sign in with someone from SBA. The State of Free Speech in America

The Philadelphia-based non-profit organization, FIRE (Foundation for Individual Rights in Education), has extended an invitation to our faculty and students to attend a complimentary cocktail party and panel. The panel will feature some of the nation’s leading free speech thinkers: Dr. Stanley Fish of the Cardozo School of Law, Jonathan Rauch of the Brookings Institution, Eric Posner of the University of Chicago Law School, and FIRE's President Greg Lukianoff. The discussion will explore the nature, limits, and state of free speech in America, and National Constitution Center President Jeffrey Rosen will moderate it. FIRE is a non-profit organization that defends civil and 1st Amendment rights of college students and faculty and their work is frequently mentioned in the New York Times and Wall Street Journal.
