News Journal Quotes Dean Roger Dennis Regarding DuPont-Dow Merger

Questions the European Union’s antitrust commission has raised concerning the DuPont-Dow merger will not necessarily derail the deal, Dean Roger Dennis told the News Journal of Delaware.

“If I were DuPont and Dow right now, I would be concerned by not panicked,” Dennis said.

The European Union’s Competition Commission is subjecting the $130 billion merger to a second review to assess its impact on competition in crop protections, seeds and petrochemicals.

Dennis noted that there are limits to the time allowed such a review.

“The commission is procedurally required to fish or cut bait by (December),” Dennis said. “My understanding is that this can’t go much beyond that date if at all.”

The founding dean of the Law School, Dennis is a former antitrust lawyer for the U.S. Department of Justice.
