Faculty Colloquia Series: Gillian Metzger

Gillian Metzger is the Stanley H. Fuld Professor of Law at Columbia Law School, where she has taught since 2001 (and from which she graduated in 1996). She writes and teaches in the areas of administrative and constitutional law, with a specialization in federalism. She is the coauthor of a leading administrative law casebook and the author of numerous law review articles and book chapters. Before joining the Columbia faculty, she served as a staff attorney in the Democracy Program at the Brennan Center for Justice, and she previously served as a law clerk to Judge Patricia M. Wald of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg of the U.S. Supreme Court. Before attending law school, she worked as a legislative aide for District Council 37, a local union in New York, and as a staff analyst for the New York City government.
