Student to Help Lead CLE on Overcoming Barriers

October 27, 2015

3L Rébécca Bénoit will be a featured presenter at a Continuing Legal Education program organized by the New Jersey State Bar Association on Oct. 29.

The CLE will focus on strategies that disabled attorneys and law students can use to overcome barriers in legal education and legal practice.

Bénoit, a board member of the National Association of Law Students with Disabilities, is the only law student who will serve on the panel.

She will join:

  • Stuart Pixley, a senior attorney with Microsoft Corporation
  • Lucretia Clemons, a partner at Ballard Spahr
  • Bonny G. Rafel, a solo practitioner based in Florham Park, N.J.
  • Javier Robles, an adjunct professor at Rutgers School of Law and president of ThisAbled LLC.

“It’s very important for students and attorneys to share information about resources that are available,” said Bénoit, a former teacher who is among the inaugural cohort of students who enrolled in the accelerated two-year JD program.
