LLM student Julius Müller-Auffermann, third from right in photo, received an award for outstanding achievement in international law from the Philadelphia Bar Association’s International Law Committee on Oct. 7.

Müller-Auffermann, a native of Germany, studied Roman and European criminal law at the University of Catania School of Law in Italy before clerking at the District Court of Wiesbaden.

As an inaugural student in the law school's LLM in American Legal Practice Program, he is developing expertise that will help international clients avoid business dealings that would run afoul of criminal, civil or administrative law, which will become especially important if negotiations around the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership agreement are concluded.

He plans to return to Germany as an associate at DLA Piper, upon completing his LLM.
