Professor David DeMatteo was named president-elect of the American Psychology–Law Society, a division of the American Psychological Association.

Students Jaymes Fairfax-Columbo, Meghann Galloway and Emily Haney-Caron were elected to leadership posts on the organization’s Student Committee.

Galloway will serve as committee chair, while Haney-Caron will serve as chair-elect and Fairfax-Columbo will serve as law liaison.

The 3,000-member AP-LS is the professional organization for researchers and practitioners who work at the intersection of psychology and law.

DeMatteo directs the JD/PhD Program in Law and Psychology.  His research focuses on psychopathy, forensic mental health assessment, drug policy and offender diversion.

Galloway, Haney-Caron and Fairfax-Columbo are all enrolled in the JD/PhD program, one of just a few in the U.S. that allows law students to earn a doctoral degree in clinical psychology.
