Students Meet the Nation’s Leading Business Lawyers in Washington, D.C.

November 29, 2010

Alongside the nation’s elite business lawyers, more than a dozen students gained insights about the impact of new financial regulatory reforms during a visit to Washington D.C. on Nov. 18-20.

The students took part in the American Bar Association Business Law Section’s annual fall meeting, where they attended sessions on a variety of topics in business law and met leading practitioners from around the country during an evening reception.

The group also met with officials from the Securities and Exchange Commission, who discussed changes that will result from the Dodd-Frank Act, which was enacted in the wake of the 2008 financial collapse.

Professor Karl Okamoto, who directs the school’s Business and Entrepreneurship Law Program, also arranged for the students to dine with Bruce Kraus, co-chief counsel for the SEC’s newly created Division of Risk Strategy and Financial Innovation.
