  Hosted by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, Karl Okamoto, director of Drexel Law’s Business and Entrepreneurship Law Program and associate professor of law, will serve as a faculty panelist during this institute, where attorneys will earn continuing education credits.

Feb. 6, 2009: Evaluating Legal Origins Theory Symposium sponsored by Brigham Young University Law Review
Provo, UT
  Karl Okamoto, director of Drexel Law’s Business and Entrepreneurship Law Program and associate professor of law, appeared as a discussant at a panel that focused on legal origins theory in the context of the current financial crisis. Okamoto offered commentary on papers on “Law and Finance” presented by Associate Professor Ruth Aguilera of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and on “Legal Origins Theory Through the Prism of the Current Economic Crisis” presented by Lisa Fairfax, director of the Business Law Program at the University of Maryland School of Law. 
 
Feb. 4, 2009: Seeing the Future for Investors and Their Lawyers in Philadelphia Philadelphia, PA
  Dozens of Drexel students, faculty, and area lawyers participated in a lively panel discussion held at the Drexel University Earle Mack School of Law. More than two dozen new lawyers students who were completing a unique program in transactional lawyering joined scores of students who are completing Drexel’s nationally ranked business programs in entrepreneurship.The discussion featured a group of prominent members of Philadelphia’s business community who understand the region’s economy and the role investors and their lawyers play.
