Welcome
Drexel Alumni and Friends!

We
very much appreciate your interest in Drexel University’s
newest college, Drexel
College of Law. The college will be uniquely Drexel:
it will give students a co-op
experience as an integral part of the students’ legal
education and will offer concentrations in Business
and Entrepreneurship Law, Intellectual
Property and Health
Law.
The
College also will present new opportunities for synergistic
collaborations among the University’s fourteen
colleges and schools, including co-sponsored programs
and joint
degrees.
In
just three short years, our 181 eager law students
will become accomplished alumni and colleagues to all
of the Drexel JD’s. In order to begin nurturing
those relationships early, we are planning to host
events with our Drexel JDs, the law students, and Drexel’s
undergraduate pre-law students who have rejuvenated
the Biddle
Law Society. Francis M. Chmielewski, JD, CPCU (’81)
is taking the lead in organizing the first get-togethers.
If you would like to help with these events, please
contact us at alumrel@drexel.edu.
The relationship with alumni and the College of Law (and its future alums)
is just beginning. We welcome your ideas as to how alumni would like to get
involved with the College of Law.
For
now, we have a few ideas as to how you and the law students
can benefit from this relationship—
Drexel
Law Comes to Your Alumni Chapter
This year, members of the Drexel
Law faculty and administration will
be available to travel across the country to share with you news about our
new Law School. These visits are being arranged through the Drexel University
Alumni Board of Governors and the Office
of Alumni Relations. To schedule a Drexel Law speaker for a regional alumni
chapter or club meeting, please contact us at alumrel@drexel.edu.
Summer
Jobs for Drexel 1L’s
The most important way that Drexel alumni can support the College of Law is
to help find a summer job for a Drexel “One L” – a student
who has completed his or her first year of law school. The summer job market
for any 1L is extremely competitive. Just imagine how difficult it will be
for a 1L who is coming from an as-yet-unranked law school! The students will
very much appreciate the opportunity you have given them and you will be able
to mentor them as they contribute to your firm or organization.
If
you work at a business that has in-house legal counsel,
or if you are a lawyer, please sign on
as a summer employer. Just e-mail
us your contact information and your company
or law firm’s website. The law school’s
Assistant Dean of Career and Professional Development, Amy
Montemarano will be in touch with you.
$1,000 Scholarships - Just for Drexel Grads
If you are a graduate of Drexel University and are thinking about applying
to Drexel Law, you should know that you will be eligible for a $1,000 annual
scholarship. It’s Drexel’s way of saying welcome to our alumni!

Networking
with Other Drexel JD Alums
Drexel counts more than 500 of its alumni as having earned their Juris Doctor
degree. If you are interested in networking with fellow alumni who are also
attorneys or if you seek the services of a Drexel graduate, register
today for Drexel inCircle, the university’s alumni networking program
to connect and reconnect you with Drexel alumni. For help with your inCircle registration,
contact the Office of Alumni Relations at alumrel@drexel.edu or 1.888.DU.GRADS.
Please feel free to email
us with additional ideas. We look forward to working with you to help firmly
establish the stellar reputation of our new College of Law both in Philadelphia
and across the country.
