A.B. summa cum laude, Harvard College
Dana Irwin’s
expertise includes trust and estates, property, patents and
legal ethics.
Professor Irwin earned
her J.D. from Yale Law School, where she received the President’s
Public Service Fellowship and the Seton Ivy Award for Outstanding
Contribution to Yale-New
Haven Relations.
She handled trust
and estate cases as an associate with Cravath, Swaine & Moore
LLP in New York and went onto clerk for the Hon. Anthony J.
Scirica, chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals
for the Third Circuit.
In July 2008, Professor Irwin will begin a year-long clerkship
for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito.
Her current scholarship
focuses on interdisciplinary and ethical perspectives on patent
law. Previously published articles include “Freedom
of Thought: the First Amendment and the Scientific Method,” in
the Wisconsin Law Review and “Removing the Scaffolding:
the QTIP Provisions and the Ownership Fiction,” in the Nebraska Law Review.
