Co-op Education: Co-op

Prerequisites
- To
be eligible for a Drexel Law Co-op assignment,
students must:
- Successfully complete the first year of classes.
- Achieve a minimum GPA.
- Satisfy any placement-specific requirements, such as experience in a
particular industry.
- Participate in pre-placement orientation prior to the start of the Co-op
cycle.
Requirements
- Students
on Co-op are expected to:
- Work
an average of 20 hours per week in the field.
- Satisfy
or exceed the supervisor's expectations.
- Take
at least three additional credit hours of classes
or participate in other approved academic programs
(such as law review or moot court) while on Co-op.
- Attend
a lawyering practice seminar on campus (for two
academic credits) in which they will reflect on
aspects of their Co-op experience and integrate
it into their legal studies.
Co-op
Matching Process
- Two
to three months prior to the start of the Co-op cycle,
the law school will conduct a matching process.
- Co-op
supervisors will be invited to a "Co-op Fair" on
campus to meet students.
- Students
will preference prospective placements from the list
of available Co-ops.
- Students
will attend limited interviews with prospective placements.
- The
law school will complete the matching process approximately
one month prior to the commencement of the Co-op.
- Prior
to the Co-op, supervisors also will be required to
participate in an orientation. Attending the orientation,
entitled "Mentoring the Young Professional" for
CLE purposes, will allow supervisors to earn up to
two (2) PA CLE credits (1.0 substantive credit and
1.0 ethics credit).
