There
are lots of reasons for you to come to Drexel:
|
|
1. Students: The
best students are choosing Drexel. Drawing students from
across the nation, Drexel has attracted a student body
noted for its academic excellence and diverse backgrounds.
The latest 2007 incoming class had a median LSAT score
of 158 and a median GPA of 3.4. The Class of 2007 comes
from over 73 different undergraduate institutions with
over half the students having post-baccalaureate work experience.
Our students include school teachers, soldiers, newspaper
reporters, and mountain climbers, not to mention Quakers,
Sun Devils, Wildcats, Seminoles and, of course Dragons. Click

2. Professors: Accomplished
teachers, scholars, and lawyers are choosing Drexel. Because
we want you to learn how to be a lawyer, your professors are
teaching from their experiences as well as from their academic
expertise. Our Legal Methods program, taught by tenured
and tenure-track faculty who are experts in the field,
will help you build the skills you will need to be accomplished
in your work. |
|
|
|
|
3. Employers: The
best employers are choosing Drexel. Unlike the eight-week
summer-only clerkship typically available in law schools,
you are able to work for two entire quarters as part of
the co-op program. All the best employers in the region
are signing on to sponsor Drexel
law students in co-op. Whether you work with a corporate
general counsel; in a law firm, pharmaceutical company,
or a hospital; or with a judge or public interest lawyer,
you’ll not only see legal transactions from beginning
to end, but also learn about the industry or area of practice
in which the law is being applied. |
|
|
|
|
4. Concentrations: Our
initial concentration
areas are cutting-edge. Intellectual
Property, Health
Law and Business
and Entrepreneurship Law are based on Drexel’s
traditional strengths and are growing areas of legal practice
in the Philadelphia area and in the country. |
|
|
|
|
5. Experience: Drexel
graduates will be a step ahead of their peers. Graduating
students not only will have a degree and excellent training
they can take anywhere, but also real job experiences
in which they will have earned impressive references
and begun to build a dynamic network of legal and corporate
professionals through our co-op
program. Additionally, providing pro bono service
to individuals or groups traditionally underserved by
the private bar is the goal of Drexel's mandatory 50-hour Pro
Bono Service Requirement. Students will make an immediate
impact in the world by helping those most in need.

|
|
|
|
6. Classes: Your
largest classes are small. No class has more than 75 students.
The legal writing and skills classes are limited to 35-40
students.
7. Flexibility: Our academic calendar gives
students flexibility. Our courses are taught in quarters year-round so
that you can work with your faculty advisor and decide to take extra courses
in one particular field, take a summer course, or have a summer job. |
|
|
|
|
8. Facilities: The brand
new law building, conveniently located in the heart
of University City, opened in early 2007. The University
has committed over $19 million for this facility, which
includes wireless classrooms, a modern moot courtroom
where we hold classes and programs with experienced practitioners
and renowned scholars, and a law
library that combines the best of e-libraries and
a traditional print collection. |
|
|
|
|
9. History: Drexel is
the first top-ranked
doctoral university in the country to open a law school
in more than 25 years! The response to the law school has
been overwhelmingly positive and has attracted excellent
applicants for admission as well as faculty members from
well-regarded law schools and from practice backgrounds.
10. Philadelphia: Drexel
is located in a vibrant city with opportunities to live and
work in the birthplace
of America with a diverse, collegial legal community. |
