Network Service Interruption

Thursday, December 18, 2014 - 12:50 PM

Network Service was restored to regular operation for all locations on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 1:20 PM. Campus Network access was interrupted from 12:50 to 1:20PM ET on 12/18. A hardware failure of redundant equipment during a routine maintenance procedure, caused a service interruption, which normally would not be user visible. This interruption would have also impacted access to voice mail and network connected telephones (voip phones).

Network Service was restored to regular operation for All Campus Buildings on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 2:40 PM. Between 1:30 and 2:40PM, access to the campus network from wired and wireless networks and IP telephones located in campus buildings may have been briefly unavailable. Please note that this problem did not impact IRT core services hosted in the IRT data centers. Thus off-campus access to IRT provided services were not Interrupted.

Network Service was restored to regular operation for All Campus Buildings on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 7:10 PM. Intermittent network service interruptions impacted campus buildings between 6:45 and 7:10PM. During this time, wired and wireless networks and IP telephones in campus buildings were intermittently unavailable. IRT Staff and our vendor partner identified the root cause of this intermittent problem (including a previous incident at 4PM) and installed a software patch to correct it. Please note that this problem did not impact IRT core services hosted in the IRT data centers. Thus off-campus access to IRT provided services were not Interrupted.

IT staff are currently troubleshooting. E-mail itself is still being sent and received. Users connecting via IMAP are not affected.
