How-to: Pick Up Your DUNX1 (web) Account

Before you can put up a webpage, you need to get an account on DUNX1, our Academic Unix server.  Just follow these steps:

    1. Click here to go to the Computer Accounts Management System (CAMS) (note: CAMS will open in a new window so you can refer back to this page throughout the process).
    2. Enter your Drexel e-mail user ID and password and click "OK" (this is the same user ID and password you use to get into DrexelOne or Webmail).
    3. Click

    4. Now, you should see the main CAMS page.  Look in the "Host System" column for "Academic Unix".  If you don't see it there, then you don't have a DUNX1 account.  In this case, you will see a "Set up new account" button near the bottom right corner, just above the "Sign out" button.  Click on:

    5. Before you can create the account, you need to review the Acceptable Use Policy.  After reading through it, click Yes at the bottom of the page to accept the policy.

    6. CAMS will automatically generate a password for your account, but you can also choose a password by entering it in the "Password:" box.  This password must meet the 3 criteria listed.

    7. Assuming you accept the password given or choose an acceptable one yourself, the account will be created.  If CAMS doesn't like the password you chose, it'll reload the screen above and you can again take the password it generates or choose another (more secure) password than you did the first time.  When the creation process is done, you'll see a page like the one below.  If you can't remember the password, you may want to right it down, but DO NOT write you user ID on the same piece of paper.

Now that you have a DUNX1 account, you can click here to learn how to connect to dunx1 to upload your webpage.
