Account Pickup Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Must I have a Drexel account if I already have an email account with [hotmail, yahoo, earthlink, gmail, etc.]?
Yes. All students and staff at Drexel are required to maintain a Drexel account, which is used for multiple purposes. Email is only one of the services your account provides. You also use this account for the DrexelOne portal, where you use central Bannerweb data services (to register for classes, retrieve grades), access online course materials and email; for network and wireless access; for software downloads, and most places where electronic sign in is required. (See Email question below)
Q: How do I get an Account?
Students new to Drexel during their pre-Freshman or transfer summer must activate their Drexel computer accounts from http://www.drexel.edu/irt/welcome . This is a special website for new undergraduate students. Graduate students, faculty and staff may activate at http://accounts.drexel.edu.
Q: I entered in the information required by the Computer Accounts Management Service, but it's telling me there is no person on file with that combination of information. What do I do?
Sometimes the information entered in our system contains an incorrect digit: the ZIPCODE or birthdate may be off by a number. If you are certain you are entering your birthdate as MM/DD/YYYY and using your permanent ZIP, but still not being recognized, please call us at 215-895-2698 so that we can help you activate your account.
If you have just received an acceptance letter, but have neither confirmed back to us that you will attend nor submitted your matriculation fee, your account will not be ready for you until that is done. It may be a few days until your account is ready.
Q: I don't want to open another email account to read Drexel mail. What should I do? (See first question)
You can forward your Drexel email to another email account, using the Computer Accounts Management System forwarding tool. Just remember that every user is responsible for managing their account contents and quota. More importantly, the userid and password for your email is necessary for other essential services which you must use from time to time; so you need to remember them.
To forward your Drexel email once you have activated your new account, use the account management tool available at http://accounts.drexel.edu . This is the address you should use throughout your Drexel experience. Log in and click the Forwarding link next to your email account listing.
Q: I picked up my account, but I can't remember the [userid] and [password].
If you forgot your password you can retrieve it by going to http://accounts.drexel.edu and then click on the link that says “help I forgot my password.” (Everyone is allowed one “free” use of the password reset wizard without first having configured it.) If the Wizard does not seem to work you will need to call our office to have the password reset at 215-895-2698. We are unable to reset passwords and send them via email.
If you forgot your userid, call us at 215-895-2698 or email accounts@drexel.edu . Be sure to include your full name, telephone number, Student ID Number and zipcode. You may want to include an alternate email address also. DO NOT include your Social Security Number. |
