Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) - What You Need To Know

If you're a Mac user, you've no doubt heard Apple and even the press touting OS 10.5 (commonly called "Leopard") as just about the greatest thing since sliced bread.  While there are some significant improvements and a bunch of cool new features, upgrading may not be the best choice for you.

For example, as with any operating system upgrade, some existing software may not be 100% compatible.  If you rely on a particular program that is not compatible, then it would be wise to wait until this program is updated.  Also, with Leopard, Apple has officially dropped Classic mode, which allowed users to run pre-OS X-based software in a special emulation mode on Macs with PowerPC processors.  So, if you're still using some "antique" Mac software, Leopard really may not be for you.

To help you to make an informed decision, we've compiled some information already and are performing ongoing testing with IRT-provided and support software and services.  The links below should get you going in the right direction.  If you have questions or problems not addressed here or on the pages below, feel free to contact the IRT Help Desk at (215)895-2020 or consult@drexel.edu,
