Getting the most from your WebCT installation?

Please join us for the Second NE Regional WebCT Conference in Philadelphia, PA, April 19th and April 20th, 2004. The conference is sponsored by the Office of Information Resources and Technology at Drexel University. As long time managers and users of multiple WebCT installations, and as part of our commitment to the product, we are happy to gather our colleagues and friends to share experiences and knowledge regarding the use of this premier content management system and other course supplements.

The conference will be of interest to several groups. A major focus of the conference will be on the broader strategic, institutional issues associated with implementing an institution-wide online course initiative and the associated technological, financial, and infrastructure issues accompanying such a project. This year's program will give special attention to the institutional and pedagogical changes throughout the academic program resulting from a major commitment to reengineering courses for partial, hybrid, or full online delivery.

As colleges and universities move beyond an ad hoc implementation of web-based and web-supported education to a plan which supports all aspects of the academic program, there are issues of support, equal access, scalability, and cultural impact which accompany such an initiative. This year's agenda will give special attention to these issues and present best practices and lessons learned from those who are "paving the way".

Three "tracks" will be offered so that attendees will be able to find content appropriate to their interests. These tracks include:

    • A "Decision Maker's" Track : Senior IT professionals will have an opportunity to hear about the long range, institution-wide impact that online course development can have and the financial and cultural effects of this change.
    • An "Administrator / Designer" Track : WebCT "designers" will learn about advanced features of Campus Edition, the latest product generation, VISTA and will also learn about third party tools available to integrate with and enhance WebCT functionality and capability.
    • A "Designer / Instructor" Track : Those using WebCT in the classroom will learn more about unique and innovative pedagogical approaches which can be implemented in conjunction with online course materials.

Historic Philadelphia in the springtime provides a perfect setting for post semester renewal and rejuvenation for all those course development projects you plan to finish over the summer. In this relaxed atmosphere you can talk with your peers, gaining new ideas for your courses and/or faculty support. We will have three presentation tracks: Decision Makers, Administration & Technical Support, and Teaching and Learning.
