Many announcements of upcoming events directed to the entire university are consolidated into a Drexel Daily Digest. A Topics index at the top of each Digest enables readers to find items easily. The Digest is a joint undertaking of the Office of University Relations and the Office of Information Resources and Technology (IRT).
Unlike most Drexel mass emailings, the Digest is presented with limited HTML formatting and small graphical illustrations; like all Drexel mass emailing, no attachments are permitted.
As with all Drexel mass emailings, announcements for the Drexel
Daily Digest require the authorization of a university official
with the rank of vice president, senior vice president, or president.
To submit an item to the Drexel Daily Digest, please
do the following:
- 1 . Click on http://www.drexel.edu/news/digest/submit.aspx
to access the Digest submission form.
- 2. Fill in all of the relevant information in the form. It is
the responsibility of the submitter to ensure the accuracy of
the submission. Please keep in mind that missing information will
result in posting delays.
- 3. If you wish to submit a picture or graphic to be included
with your submission, please attach an image file in the space
provided in the form. (Keep in mind that the final decision on
image selection is made by the Office of University Relations).
Please do not attach images that might be offensive or inappropriate.
Acceptable image types include .jpg (.jpeg), .gif, and .png. Images
should be no more than 200 pixels high and 500 pixels wide or
over 1 MB in size.
- 4. Email attachments, such as flyers, graphics, or posters,
will not be distributed with the emailed Digest. The
graphics distributed with the Digest are not sent as
attachments but are stored by University Relations on a central
server. Graphics are attached via the submission form only.
- 5. The more closely your item as it appears in the Details box
follows the Digest style, the less likely the item will
be edited by the Digest team. All items, however, will
be edited for spelling, grammar, length and style. Please see
these examples for Digest style. All items should in
plain text. Any enhancements, such as italics, bold, or variable
type sizes will be added by the Digest team.
- 6. Once the item is submitted, it will be sent to the office
of approval
selected in the submission form. Approvers may send comments about
the submission via the email address the submitter provided for
him or herself. Notification of approval or rejection will be
sent via email to you, the submitter. Though the Digest
team cannot guarantee that all approved items will be run on a
requested date, or that all items will be approved, every effort
is made to place submissions in the Digest.
- 7. For more detailed information regarding the Digest submission
process, see www.drexel.edu/univrel/digest/help/help.html.
The Drexel Daily Digest is published Monday through Friday (except during summer when the Drexel Weekly Digest is published on Mondays). The Digest is sent overnight for delivery to mailboxes the next business morning.
The Drexel Daily Digest is distributed to all @drexel.edu email accounts whose account holders have not opted out, as well as to other interested parties (parents, alumni, etc.) who have chosen to subscribe (opted in) at http://www.drexel.edu/irt/services/listserv/subscriptions/digests_guests.asp.
For additional information about the policies and procedures for submitting items for distribution via centrally-managed mass email at Drexel University, see (for policies) http://www.drexel.edu/IRT/policies/preconfiglist.html and (for procedures) http://www.drexel.edu/IRT/services/listserv/CentralLists.html.
