    Preconfigured Mailing Lists

The Office of Information Resources and Technology (IRT) manages a group of preconfigured mailing lists for the purpose of sending email announcements to large sections of the Drexel Community.

The preconfigured mass email lists target segments and aggregations of the university by status (undergraduate, graduate student, faculty, staff) or by location (University City, Center City, Queen Lane). Within status, undergraduate students may be targeted by level (freshman, sophomore, pre-junior, junior, senior). Mailings are also differentiated by type (Announcements and Official Mail).

Lists are built by sorting according to categories available in the Banner Administrative Database system, and are automatically updated from Banner at least once a week. For a list of the IRT-managed mass emailing lists, click here.
Procedures for submitting items for mass email distribution by IRT are given here (http://www.drexel.edu/IRT/services/listserv/CentralLists.html).

Please note the following General Guidelines:

    • • No messages will be sent to IRT-managed mass email lists without approval from a Drexel University vice president, senior vice president, or the president.

    • • IRT recommends announcing events at least three days in advance and generally not more than ten days in advance.

    • • Reminder messages are discouraged, since repeated messages alienate (y)our audience, but individual checkpoints within a major event’s planning (e.g., submission of abstracts, registration, etc.) may be advertised separately.

    • • Announcements of campus-wide events are reflected in shortened form to the Campus Announcements section of DrexelOne. Campus Announcements serves as the ongoing reminder for the event.

    • • No commercial messages will be accepted except those deemed beneficial to the university by the approving university official (vice president or higher).

    • • Only IRT personnel have access to these centrally managed lists. IRT will never sell, rent, give, or otherwise share these lists with non-university groups or individuals. The provision of university email address lists to external groups or individuals, by anyone, is an explicit violation of the Acceptable Use Policy.

    The Drexel Daily Digest
Many announcements of upcoming events directed to the entire university are consolidated into a Drexel Daily Digest. A Topics index at the top of each Digest enables readers to find items easily. The Digest is a joint undertaking of the Office of University Relations and the Office of Information Resources and Technology (IRT).

Unlike most Drexel mass emailings, the Digest is presented with limited HTML formatting and small graphical illustrations; like all Drexel mass emailing, no attachments are permitted.

As with all Drexel mass emailings, announcements for the Drexel Daily Digest require the authorization of a university official with the rank of vice president, senior vice president, or president.
