What is Microsoft Exchange Labs?

Microsoft offers a new email account for students: Exchange Labs. This email service uses Windows Live authentication, which also connects you to SkyDrive, Calendars, Windows Live Messenger, Spaces, and other services.

Exchange Labs is a next-generation email provider. It provides students with a 10 GB Exchange email inbox, a calendar, and shared contacts. It also provides security from internal and external threats by using antivirus and anti-spam protection, filtering options, Windows Live ID authentication, Outlook Web Access, POP and IMAP client support, and a 20 MB attachment limit per message.

Drexel students will be able to take advantage of Exchange on the Web, using Outlook, or with a smartphone using ActiveSync.

Windows Live's SkyDrive, associated with LinkEdu’s @eLink.drexel.edu email accounts, is the featured storage medium for Microsoft Exchange Labs. SkyDrive offers 25 GB of free storage space that is accessible from any PC or Web-enabled mobile device. Files can be dragged and dropped directly into your SkyDrive storage space. Also, you can access SkyDrive from anywhere.

Files in your SkyDrive storage space can be kept private, directly linked to, or shared with friends, classmates, co-workers — you name it. Personal folders can be set aside for documents only you may view, and Shared folders can be used to allow others to view or add documents.
