Camtasia

Camtasia Studio

Camtasia Studio is an application that facilitates the capture, editing and production of multimedia on a desktop computer. It is currently only available to faculty and staff and is distributed by the Online Learning Team at their trainings for the product. IRT holds a limited number of licenses and requires that training be attended in order to obtain a copy of the software.

Camtasia studio is currently only available for the Microsoft Windows platform and can be processor intensive when working with recordings. The user is able to capture video of anything on their computer screen (microphone and webcam input as well), and then edit and produce high-quality clips in many different file formats with a smart, quick to learn, and feature-rich interface.

Key features of Camtasia Studio:

  • Capture PPT presentations with a click
  • Record and highlight interaction with websites or applications
  • Emphasize and elaborate with callouts
  • Measure retention with Flash quizzes
  • Collect quiz results via email or SCORM-compliant LMS
  • Make content accessible with closed captioning

To learn more you can visit the Tech Smith website to see features for Camtasia Studio.

Camtasia for Mac

Camtasia for Mac brings (most of) the functionality of Camtasia Studio to Mac OS X users. It is currently only available to faculty and staff and is distributed by the Online Learning Team at their trainings for the product. IRT holds a limited number of licenses and requires that training be attended in order to obtain a copy of the software.

Camtasia for Mac requires Mac OS X 10.6.8 or newer. Like Camtasia Studio, it can be used to record content from your computer screen and microphone (and, optionally, webcam), edit and enhance it, and produce it in a format that can be readily shared with your audience.

Key Features of Camtasia for Mac:

  • Capture PowerPoint or Keynote presentations quickly & easily
  • Record and highlight interaction with websites or applications
  • Emphasize and elaborate with callouts, animations and other enhancements
  • Make content accessible with closed captioning

Camtasia Relay

Camtasia Relay is an application that can be used for lecture capture where quick & automated publishing is required. It is available for computers running Mac OS X (10.6.8 or newer) and Windows; there's even a "portable" version that can be run from a USB flash drive for recording anytime, anywhere.

Unlike other versions of Camtasia, Relay is available to all Drexel Faculty and Staff who participate in a short online training course (Desktop and Presentation Recording). Write to olt@drexel.edu to ask to be enrolled in the online training.

Key Features of Camtasia Relay:

  • Launch and start recording in just a few clicks
  • PowerPoint add-in (only available in Windows)
  • Simple editing interface allows you to trim the start & end of your recording
  • Recordings are automatically uploaded & published to Dragondrop

Also, with a Camtasia Relay account, you can take advantage of Techsmith's Fuse mobile app to record and publish videos from your iOS or Android devices (note: camera and audio are recorded, not the device screen).
