A Guide to Technology Resources at Drexel
Accounts and Identity
Drexel assigns you three identifiers:
- Drexel user-ID
- Official @drexel.edu email address
- University ID number
Your Drexel user-ID (along with its associated password) is used to sign in to many of the services described in this guide. It is in the format of your initials followed by random digits (i.e., fml234).
Your official Drexel email address is built from your full name (email@example.com). The University sends email communication to this address, and other people will find this address when they search for you in Drexel's online directory.
You'll also need to know your eight-digit University ID number for certain services.
Activate your initial Drexel computer accounts at http://accounts.drexel.edu. Set up your password when prompted.
Find your University ID number at http://www.drexel.edu/irt/univid and at http://accounts.drexel.edu.
You can use your new accounts to connect to online services via the DrexelOne portal (http://one.drexel.edu), for access to the campus wireless network, and more.
Emails addressed to your official @drexel.edu address (firstname.lastname@example.org) or to the shorter format (email@example.com) will arrive in the same inbox. Initially, these addresses are tied to a basic email account with 100 MB of space; most faculty and professional staff, however, will choose to create a 3 GB Exchange email account.
Drexel communicates important information to the campus community via email. It is your responsibility to read your Drexel email regularly, either by accessing your account directly or by forwarding it to another account.
Access basic email, if you use it, at http://mail.drexel.edu or via DrexelOne at http://one.drexel.edu.
Exchange Email Account
In addition to the Drexel basic email account, an Exchange account with 3 GB of space is available to faculty and professional staff. An Exchange account facilitates the sharing of calendars, contacts, meeting invitations, and more. Request an Exchange account at http://www.drexel.edu/irt/exchange.
Exchange can be set up to utilize Outlook on your computer or mobile device, or accessed via the Web at http://exchangeweb.drexel.edu. For instructions, search “configure email” on AskDrexel at http://ask.drexel.edu.
Online Computer Accounts Management
The Computer Accounts Management System (http://accounts.drexel.edu) provides access to the following:
- Self-service password resets
- Email forwarding setup
- Creation of an optional Academic Unix account
You can also look up your University ID number.
To ensure accuracy, verify your personal information in the Drexel directory at http://www.drexel.edu/search. Also, check your personal information in DrexelOne. To update your information, email Human Resources at HRIS@drexel.edu.
Backup and Data Recovery Account
Backup and recovery service will be provided by CrashPlan. Sign up and purchase service for your individual computers at http://www.drexel.edu/irt/computers/backup.
