Undergraduate Study Abroad Program
An Undergraduate Study Abroad Program (USAP) may take many forms including, but not limited to, the following:
- A full term program with a faculty member serving as resident director and as one of the faculty members.
- A service provider would provide in-country support which could include finding other faculty members, finding housing, arranging for field trips, etc.;
- A less than full-term program with a faculty member serving as resident director and sole faculty of record (see, Drexel Summer in Crete);
- A one-week program whereby students apply for a study abroad program which requires a domestic pre or post trip course. The faculty member would serve as resident director and faculty of record ( see, Drexel in Iceland);
- A full term program which is driven by faculty interest but has a non-faculty resident director, host country faculty and no service provider (see, Bioko Island);
- A full term program driven by student interest with all services provided by a program provider with occasional Drexel faculty involvement (see, Drexel in London);
- A full term program driven by student interest with all services provided by a program provider (see, Drexel’s programs with CIEE); and
- graduate study abroad program that allows undergraduates to participate.
The following policy and associated guidelines are to be used by faculty in making Undergraduate Study Abroad Proposals (USAP) and by the Study Abroad Office, the Office of International Programs (OIP), Department Heads, and Deans in the approval process.
