Drexel In China Updates
Drexel's joint research center in Shanghai celebrated one year of activities with the first international academic symposium June 3-4, 2013. The Drexel – SARI Center, formed as a partnership between Drexel University and the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (SARI) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), welcomed experts and industry representatives during the two-day, international symposium on Grand Challenges for the Integration of Stem Cells, Nanomaterials and Biomanufacturing to learn about the advances and challenges in the three fields of research. Collaborative research projects in the areas of energy and the environment are also on the horizon for the partnership after exciting meetings this spring between Drexel and CAS leadership and scientists.
The June symposium activities coincided with the second Philadelphia Orchestra Residency and Tour in China of which Drexel was the education sponsor. Drexel welcomed over 100 incoming students, parents, alumni and friends to orchestra concerts and events and members of the Philadelphia Orchestra opened the symposium proceedings with a short concert at the Drexel – SARI center.
