OIP and Study Abroad present at Annual NAFSA Conference

Erica Sebastian, Study Abroad Advisor and Incoming Exchange Manager in the Study Abroad Office, and Adam Zahn, Program Coordinator in the Office of International Programs, were selected to present as this year’s NAFSA: Association of International Educators Annual Conference in San Diego, California. Their presentation, “Planting the Seed: Increasing Study Abroad Participation Through Short-Term Programs,” sought to demonstrate how short-term faculty-led programs and international service trip can provide better access for underrepresented groups in study abroad as well as promote longer term international experiences, such as study abroad exchange and international co-op. Drexel University Partnership with Shanghai Tech

A Drexel University delegation, led by President Fry and including Julie Mostov, Vice Provost for Global Initiatives; Suhada Jayasuriya, Distinguished University Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics (MEM); Wei Sun., Albert Soffa Chair Professor, MEM and Director, Drexel-SARI Center, and David Velinsky, Vice President for Academy Science, Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University and Head of the Department of Biodiversity, Earth and Environmental Sciences were in China last month on a multi-city trip. Alternative Spring Break - Costa Rica

During Spring Break 2013, eight members of Drexel University took part in Drexel’s first international Alternative Spring Break (ASB). The trip took place in the rural area of San Jose, Costa Rica on a family run farm. The farm goes by the name, La Gran Vista, which operates as a self-sufficient and sustainable model for farming. This farm’s purpose is to demonstrate the wholeness and effectiveness of sustainable ecological agriculture to locals and visitors from all over the world, like us. Read More
