2013-2014 - Confessions of International Students
On May 15th 2013, the Office of International Programs co-hosted a special Cross Country Conversations Event. This event, “Confessions” of International Students was spearheaded by, Nozima Botirova (CoAS ’14). Nozima, an international student from Uzbekistan is also a graduating senior in the College of Arts and Sciences. For her senior project Nozima wished to educate both domestic and international students on the experiences, good and bad, of being an international experience. With a diverse panel consisting of students from various nations, audience members were able to hear all sides of the story. Panelists shared some of their cultural backgrounds, their past hardships in adapting to new environments, and their fervor to hold onto their cultural identities. Dr. Gabriella Ibieta, Department of English and Philosophy, moderated the exciting discussions, as the full house of audience members participated in exchanging Q&A.
Nozima did a terrific job of bringing a diverse group of panelists, students, and staff together to discuss an important topic in today’s higher education.
