Global Innovation Partnership Week

The inaugural Global Innovation Partnership (GIP) Forum will take place October 29-31, 2012 at Drexel University. GIP is co-hosted by the Coulter-Drexel Translational Research Partnership Program, the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems and the Office of International Programs..

The overview of the Forum program is as follows:

Monday October 29


  • Philadelphia's Innovation Ecosystem (9:00am - 4:00pm): The program provides an overview of Drexel's and Philadelphia's Innovation ecosystem, with presentations and panel discussions featuring representatives from our university and our region's leading technology commercialization, economic development and investment agencies.

  • Gateway to Philadelhia's Innovation Ecosystem - Drexel University's Innovation Neighborhood (4:30pm - 6:30pm): The day culminates with President John Fry's presentation on Drexel's Innovation Neighborhood under development on our campus as an 'innovation nexus for research, technology transfer and economic development.

Tuesday October 30

  • Commercialization of Academic Innovation (9:00am - 6:00pm): The program focuses on the acceleration of academic innovation, with special emphasis on the conceptual and operational aspects of our Coulter-Drexel Translational Partnership program, including case studies from partner institutions and joint projects ongoing at international partner institutions. In the afternoon, the emphasis is placed on 'Partnerships to Commercialize Academic Innovation.' The Keynote Address discusses the relationship between academic innovation and government regulations. An overview of the Health Innovation Partnership - Philadelphia Region (HIP-PR) roadmap sponsored by the State of Pennsyylvania as well as a university partnership program to accelerate innovation in the State of Michigan are provided. A panel of global innovation partners from China, Israel, Turkey and US share their experiences in join translational research projects.

Wednesday October 31

  • The Innovation Talent and Technology Showcase (2:30 - 5:00pm): President John Fry addresses our innovation community and reaffirms our commitment to talent and technology development. Poster and networking session aims to provide an opportunity to meet our innovators and explore the technologies that they are developing.
