OUR VISION
A great university leaves an indelible mark not only on the mind, but on the heart and spirit of those with whom it engages. In order to fulfill its potential and promise, a great university must be committed not only to great knowledge but to great action. Its ideals and values must be broad and far reaching; inclusive and expansive; subtle and durable; innovative and compassionate. A great university lifts and inspires. It must be a partner and stakeholder in the community it cultivates and in which it will thrive.
Drexel University aspires to be such a University: at the forefront of higher education, integrating diversity into the fabric of the university – its curricular and co-curricular offerings; policies; programs and practices. We embrace the ideological, intellectual, economic, gender, ability, sexual identity, religious, age, racial, cultural, ethnic, national and all differences of our students, faculty, staff and alumni and value their contributions in shaping the transformation that Drexel University has embarked upon, as a global educational leader.
We embrace the perspectives, viewpoints and the ethos of a global citizenry and value the discourse on which a great curriculum is founded and through which deep learning occurs. That our faculty, staff and students must be diverse is an imperative.
We recognize the need to build the competencies necessary to negotiate the complex human and social challenges of the 21st century. We will work to be leaders in these efforts in our communities, our nation and the world.
We view our successes as multi-faceted: an outstanding curriculum; cutting edge research; learning both in and out of the classroom; business and philanthropic partnerships that reflect our ideals of self-determination and service; and stellar faculty, staff and students who represent the best that our communities have to offer.
Drexel University aspires to foster a community grounded in ideologic tension, dialogue, and a respect for diversity; a community that has learned to engage with respect and with humility, honoring our fundamental difference and our sameness.
