Peer Review

The Online Learning Council has developed a process whereby you can have a peer evaluation of your online course design conducted.

Options for Peer Review

Drexel University Core Design Elements Checklist

In this type of review, instructors will have an OLC Fellow assigned to conduct a peer-review of the design of their online or hybrid course using this particular tool. The Fellow will describe the Checklist, discuss the review process with you, and will conduct the course review. The Fellow will provide you with confidential, constructive feedback and you will have the opportunity to have an open conversation with the Fellow about the review and feedback. The Fellow will be available for any follow-up after the review.

Quality Matters Rubric Review

In this type of review, instructors will have a team of three OLC Fellows assigned to conduct a peer-review of the design of their online or hybrid course using the Quality Matters Rubric. The team leader will describe the QM Rubric, discuss the peer-review process with you, and will coordinate the course review. The team leader will provide you with confidential, constructive feedback and you will have the opportunity to have an open conversation with the Fellow about the review and feedback. The Fellow will be available for any follow-up after the review. Please note that this review will be an 'internal' course review and official QM certification will not be available to courses reviewed in this program.

Confidentiality

An important aspect of the review process is confidentiality. These formative reviews are intended to provide instructors with confidential, constructive feedback that is offered in a collegial and supportive manner. It is hoped that instructors will use the review process and feedback for professional and course development purposes. Course review feedback, then, will be personal between the instructors and course reviewers. Fellows will not disclose the feedback outside of the Fellows group. Since confidentiality is a two-way agreement, instructors will understand the focused, restricted purpose and limited scoped of the feedback and will consider this purpose/scope when using the feedback within a promotion or other type of context.
