Drexel Invited to Exhibit at NSF's 2009 Budget Request Rollout - NSF uses this public event to "persuade" Congress as they
begin to make new budget decisions. Every NSF Directorate is asked to
pick one project to "represent" their efforts. There will be
about 12 exhibits (picked out of their entire portfolio of funded
projects). More

International Leadership in Education program (ILEP) - Participants in the pre-academic portion of the International Leadership in Education program (ILEP) funded by the U.S.Department of State (ECA). The National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded a team of US and Korean universities to advance humanoid development. This project is funded through the NSF Partnership for International Research and Education (PIRE) Program. The program seeks transformative models to train scientists and engineers to effectively work in global multidisciplined design teams. This project brings together world-leading experts in humanoid design (Korea) and information technologies (US). This endeavor serves to enable humanoids to interact with their environment so they can be useful. The research team consists of Drexel, Bryn Mawr College, Colby College, the University of Pennsylvania and Virginia Tech, KAIST, Korea University and Seoul National University. This 5-year project will lower the barrier to entry for roboticists anywhere in the world to pursue humanoid research; a suite of humanoid platforms will be available to develop and advance capabilities like locomotion and human-robot interaction. For more information, all media requests should be directed to Paul Statt at Provost's Office at Drexel University.
