Welcome to International Area Studies! The International Areas Studies (IAS) Program at Drexel has made some exciting new changes, creating opportunities for students and faculty to meet the challenges of 21st Century. IAS is proud of its interdisciplinary, intercultural, and interactive approach to international studies and our dedication to modern language education and experiential learning. Recognizing new directions in the ways in which global problems are being defined and approached today, we have decided to enhance our traditional area studies program with thematic concentrations. The four concentrations - Justice and Human Rights; Global Science, Technology, and Society; International Business and Economics; and Literature, Culture and Arts - provide dynamic frameworks for studying about international technology transfers, humanitarian crises, border crossings, and global culture. The concentrations allow for exploration of the intersections of disciplines in academic research, policy-making, and problem-solving, and provide enough focus to give students strong foundations for career choices. We're looking forward to sharing more information with you about the concentrations. Please come to our information sessions or contact our office!
